I got into fitness when I was at university studying Communications. It was then that I discovered how much fun keeping fit could be! I joined a gym and started taking part in various classes after that. I got a taste for a lot of things including swimming, yoga, spinning (gym-based cycling) badminton, running and kickboxing. You name it I tried it!
After university I spent a few months in Malawi, Africa, where I volunteered in a local Primary School. I remember introducing one of the volunteers to running while I was there and made up
aerobic exercise routines for myself and another volunteer to do two or three times a week. It was then that it occured to me that I was good at teaching others about different ways to incorporate
exercise into their lives - and I could make it fun! I worked in Events Management for a few years after that, but did some coaching on the side with friends. Ultimately, it was this casual coaching
that led me to my career in Personal Training, and I've never looked back.
My experience in kickboxing has stayed with me in that I love to incorporate it into my PT sessions. It's a great way to work up a sweat!
